I am very happy to introduce yet another snazzy bow tie to my collection, albeit this one is more special than others. This silk bow tie is a one-of-a-kind from Dunford Wood, a company once popular in the 1980s, but now re-emerging with new and unique designs, including these striking tiger stripes.

 

The company began in 1978 with Hugh Dunford Wood, who made his living by painting silk scarves. After making his wife a scarf for her birthday, he used the leftover material to fashion a bow tie for himself, and an idea was born. Years later, Dunford Wood bow ties were being sold in Harrods and various London boutiques. 

 

Today, Hugh continues his work from his studio in Lyme Regis, and sells his handpainted creations online. His bow ties are often colourful, eccentric, and irrefutably eye-catching. Even if you are a shy gentleman, why not wear a Dunford Wood design anyway and see where the fun takes you?
